I've had this same reoccurring dream for the past 5 years. The same dream.
Why does this happen?
Residual effects of my pre-adoptive childhood? Maybe. Possibly. You never know.
To me, I can never tell the difference between reality and the actual dream when I am in the middle of it. It just seems SO real, you know?
I took a class in college for my counseling degree and we had to do dream analysis. I loved it. Basically we were taught, you can't really interpret the dream, like those psychics/psychos on channel 61 at 2am, but try to relate your dream to your life. Case in point: So.....you are dreaming about running away from something. Start asking questions: What in your life are you fearful of? What in your life are you running from? Conquer these fears....and so on. I know it sounds all 'touchy-feely' but seriously, people in my class worked out some serious crap. What I found from my wise teacher/Yoda psychology master, is, that you can't tell someone the meaning of the dream. By asking questions: help the person figure it out on their own.
Yet, still. I wonder.....Do dreams reflect something from your subconscious? Something deep, profound that has yet to submerge in your conscious mind? What placed the dream in your mind?
Why?
I think sometimes I think to much........
