You don't know me and I don't know you.

You impacted my life with a simple gift.

You took a piece of paper off of a Christmas tree at your church with three words:

girl, age eight

It was almost 30 years ago, but I'll never forget your gift.

It was a Barbie Tree House. It was heaven to me.

When I opened your gift in a high school gym that Christmas where hundreds of other foster children gathered to open gifts, it made me feel incredibly special that night and I thought,

wow. I'm not the only one. there are so many. so many without parents.

Your gift that year gave me hope. Hope that someone cared about me. Hope that I was wanted.
I'm sure you will never know, but by that Christmas I gave up hope. Hope of ever being adopted. Hope of having a forever HOME.

Your gift brought light to my Christmas that year.

You gave something to a child who was in need. Not just of a gift, but of love. Your gift showed that you cared. Cared for a child you would never meet or see open that gift.

It may have been something so simple to you.

That simple and giving expression was something very sacred to our Creator:

Pure and genuine faith in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress....

Dear Gift Giver, you may never read this- but you, taking my card off of that tree, made the difference in my life that year.

Thank you. Thank you for taking the time to buy a gift. For me.

Thank you for your prayers. I felt them.

Dear Gift Giver, I want you to know something:

By the next Christmas I was adopted. Lovingly adopted into my forever home. Where I've celebrated many, many Christmas's. Filled with love, laughter and JOY.

So thank you, Dear Gift Giver for the gift.

For the gift that gave me HOPE.

Kellie.....yes! I was. I was placed in foster care when I was about 3 and was foster adopted by my parents when I was about 9 years old. I can't wait to meet up with you for coffee someday!

Beautiful Violet! As one of those people who has taken that tag off the tree for several years, it's so encouraging to hear your story and know that God sees every heart. Love your heart!!
